Contact LensesContact Lenses

The doctors at Miamisburg Vision Care are well trained in contact lenses. Contact lenses are available for a variety of prescriptions, from nearsightedness to astigmatism to multifocal. Our doctors also offer complex contact lens fittings to those people with corneal disease or trauma. The contact lens world is rapidly changing: new technology brings us new products that offer better comfort, better vision or better eye health. These new products can benefit you whether you are a long-time wearer or brand new to contact lenses. Even if you’ve been told in the past that you could never wear contact lenses, ask your doctor if there may be something new that works for you! In addition, our doctors participate in contact lens studies in which our patients get to try our cutting-edge contact lens technology! Ask if you are a candidate for our contact lens studies.

Vision ShapingVision Shaping Treatment

Do you want to be free of your glasses and contact lenses, but are not ready for LASIK surgery? Vision Shaping Treatment (VST) may be a great alternative. VST uses a contact lens that is worn overnight to reshape the cornea to correct your vision. People using VST enjoy great vision with no need for corrective lenses during the daytime. Another great benefit of VST is that it is reversible- your eyes return to their natural shape (and prescription) by simply discontinuing overnight wear. If you are looking for an alternative to glasses, contact lenses, and LASIK, ask our doctors if you are a good candidate for VST.

The American Optometric Association recommends that all children receive a comprehensive eye examination between 6 and 12 months of age, at 3 years, and every 1-3 years in school age children. Such frequent eye examinations are necessary because children often do not know they are seeing poorly. Our doctors all have several years experience working with children of all ages, and our office has many of the tools necessary fully evaluate your child's eyes.

The first exam within the child's first year of life will be provided free of charge as part of the InfantSEE program, sponsored by Johnson & Johnson. To find out more information about InfantSEE, call our office, or click here: infantsee.org

Low Vision and Vision RehabilitationLow Vision and Vision Rehabilitation

Low vision is a significant reduction of visual function that cannot be fully corrected by ordinary glasses, contact lenses, medical treatment and/or surgery. Most people develop low vision because of eye diseases or health conditions such as macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, glaucoma, and diabetes. Some people develop vision loss after eye injuries or from birth defects. While vision that is lost usually cannot be restored, many people can make the most of the vision they have. A low vision optometrist helps patients enhance their remaining vision by prescribing special low vision eyeglasses, magnifiers, telescopes, electronic low vision aids, non-optical aids and provide training on how to use these devices. Our office uses only the best in optical quality magnifiers and low vision devices from Eschenbach.
